The District line platform and sub-surface Circle were opened by Metropolitan Railway on October 1st, 1868. Central London Railway (CLR) on July 30th, 1900 opened central line platforms. The new entrance linked on the District, Circle and Central Lines the “Notting Hill Gate stations”, which was previously used to access through the road’s either side. It had shared ticket with escalators connected with the central lines. The metal-side panels’ escalator was first used here at this underground tube station.
