Sad news again from a council in London not known for their sympathy

Westminster Council is planning to ban soup runs around Westminster Cathedral to discourage rough sleeping in the area.

westminster cathedralThe council says up to 100 people gather at the piazza during soup runs, making it a no-go area for residents and businesses.

A by-law could be in force by October if the council's plans gather support in a public consultation.

Daniel Astaire from Westminster Council has told LBC they are looking at alternatives.

He said: "A life on the streets is not an appropriate life in 21st century Britain. It's a blot on London and we're working very closely with the Mayor, who pledged to eradicate rough sleeping.

"We are pushing people towards building-based services, where they can access medical treatment, social care and the like. We don't want to see people living on our streets."

They are unhappy about plans to scrap 800 jobs in Underground ticket offices.

The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) unions are fighting the prospect of having fewer employees at stations, saying security could be compromised for passengers.

But London Underground has insisted all stations will still be staffed and has pledged there will be no compulsory redundancies.

Contingency plans

An extra 100 buses will be put into service on Monday and Tuesday, and there will be room for 10,000 more journeys on riverboat services on the Thames.

Certain taxi ranks will be marshalled and escorted bike rides will be provided for commuters using alternative methods of transport.

I am exhausted after our full day shooting the hot videos for SAE.  I am not known for my sensible footwear and 8 hours on 4 inch heels have not been good to me.

We have some amazing results and the girls had so much fun.  A big thank you also to our make up artist for making the girls look fantastic in such a short time as  their train took an unexpected detour.

Cakes and Pringles were on tap as well as lots of mineral water.  The pool table and waterbed are still in one piece but I am not sure about the film crew  I think a few cold showers were definatly in order!
